ABOUT THE ART

Book Club was originally a color lithograph advertisement published between 1898 and 1900 for Boston Illustrated. The original copy had a top headline of "The Best Guide to Boston", and beneath the illustration, "Boston Illustrated For Sale Here: Price 50 cents". Designed by Ethel Reed (1874-1912) who was considered to be the best of a small number of female poster designers in the early 20th century.
