ABOUT THE ART

Barnard Castle (ca. 1825) is a watercolor, pen and ink, and gouache painting by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), an English Romantic painter, printmaker and watercolorist. He is known for his expressive colorizations, imaginative landscapes and turbulent, often violent marine paintings.
